Sri Lankan economic crisis is so worse that the doctors in the country are now advising people not to fall ill because there is a shortage of medicines. According to the doctors, the health care system is short of drugs and vital supplies.
Already, there is a shortage of basic necessities like food and fuel in Sri Lanka. Now, medicines have joined the list. Meanwhile, some doctors are asking for donations of drug supplies or funds to buy them. They are also requesting the Sri Lankans who are living abroad for help. Many hospitals across the country are unable to give treatment to patients who are suffering from various health issues due to the shortage of medicines.
According to the reports, the medical condition in the country is much worse than it was during the COVID-19 pandemic. The government is also seeking help from other countries like USA, India and Japan in terms of funds and other humanitarian support. It also sought financial support from World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other agencies.
