External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held an all-party meeting to discuss the economic crisis in Sri Lanka and also warn all parties that India would also end up in a similar situation in the future if we don’t remain cautious.
In the meeting, the minister gave a PowerPoint presentation about the Sri Lanka crisis. He said that as Sri Lanka is our neighbouring country, the crisis will also leave an impact on us to some extent. He pointed out that various state governments are taking heavy loans and warned that if this trend continues further, we may face a similar situation to Sri Lanka.
The minister also stated that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are among the states that are taking heavy loans from the central government. The centre stated that 10 states in the country are in debt. Meanwhile, the leaders of TRS and YCP have fumed at the central government for blaming them. They alleged that the central government had cut down the limit of loans, which made them take money in excess.
