Today, the prestigious Miss Universe beauty pageant organizers have announced that they are changing the eligibility criteria for participants.
Interestingly, the Miss Universe beauty pageant is expanding its eligibility for its competition by allowing mothers and also married women to enter the contest.
Until 2022, the Miss Universe pageant’s regulations have always required that winners be single and maintain their status throughout their reign as the title winner.
But as per the latest rule, from 2023, Miss Universe Pageant will allow married women and mothers to participate in the beauty pageant.
This is a significant change in the 70-year-old tradition of the Miss Universe contest. Meanwhile, responding to this, Andrea Meza, Miss Universe 2020 winner praised the rule change and wrote “I honestly love that this is happening. Just like society changes and women are now occupying leadership positions where in the past only men could, it was about time pageants changed and opened up to women with families.”
