Afghanistan is continuing its sensational form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. After defeating Sri Lanka in its opening match a few nights ago, it has now beaten Bangladesh as well. With this win, Afghanistan became the first team to qualify for the Super 4 stage.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first. Afghan bowlers got an early breakthrough by scalping the wickets of openers Naim and Anamul in less than four overs. At one point, Bangladesh’s score was 28/4 in 6.2 overs. Later, Mahmudullah (25) and Mosaddek Hossain (48*) settled the innings of Bangladesh. With their help, the team managed to score 127/7 in 20 overs. While Mujeeb Ur Rahman (3/16) destroyed the top order of Bangladesh, Rashid Khan (3/22) dismantled the middle order. Both of them scalped three wickets each.
Afghanistan got a slow start while chasing this low target. Even Bangladesh bowlers kept things tight and never allows Afghan batters to score freely. After the end of 13 overs, Afghanistan’s score was 62/3. It needed 65 runs in 42 balls. That’s when Ibrahim Zadran (42) and Najibullah Zadran (43 off 17 balls) made a sensational partnership of 69 runs in just 33 balls. As a result, Afghanistan scored 131/3 in 18.3 overs and won the match by 7 wickets with 9 balls to spare.
Now, the team which wins the game between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will qualify for the Super 4 stage from Group B.
