Bengaluru floods

Bengaluru floods: With the recent floods in Karnataka state, ‘Silicon Valley’ of India, Bengaluru, has been witnessing a severe effect on it. With the floods all over the state, most of the tech industry employees have refrained from moving out of their houses.

The state government has issued statement that Mahadevapura tech corridor shall become a ‘flood-free zone’ by the next monsoon.

CM Basavaraj Bommai said that this is an unprecedented phenomenon and they will prepare a masterplan exclusively for the Mahadevapura area to ensure that such flooding incidents do not recur. He visited a few flood-affected areas in Mahadevapura on Tuesday at midnight. He explained that the design of a drainage system is not to cope with a large quantity of rainfall in a short span.

At the same time, IT Minister CN Ashwath Narayan attended a meeting with the industry leads and detailed the flood-mitigation plans that will be undertaken. Representatives of the IT companies and Outer Ring Road Companies’ Association delivered their concerns to him.

The rains issue has put Bengaluru in the headlines across the nation and a lot of memes are in circulation too.
