Pakistan broke multiple records in the second T20I held against England last night in Karachi. Pak openers Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan created history and helped Pakistan in chasing a target of 200 runs without losing a single wicket.
This happens to be the highest chase done by any team without losing a single wicket (203*) in T20Is. The second best is under the name of New Zealand (vs Pak in 2016).
The 203-run partnership between Azam and Rizwan is the fifth-highest-opening partnership in the history of T20Is. Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani are in first place (236 vs Ireland, 2019). Australia’s Aaron Finch – D’Arcy Short (223 vs Zim, 2018), Czech Republic’s S Davizi – Dylan Steyn (220 vs Bulgaria, 2022) and Gibraltar’s Balaji Pai – Louis Bruce (213* vs Bulgaria, 2022) are in the second, third and fourth positions respectively.
Now, Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan have the most number of 150+ partnerships in men’s T20Is (5*). They are followed by Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma (2).
Babar Azam made a century in this game. It happens to be his second T20I century. With this, he became the only Pakistani batter to score 2 T20I centuries.
Azam also scored the most international centuries as Pakistan’s captain (10*). He is followed by Inzamam-ul-Haq (9) and Misbah-ul-Haq (8).
