India continued its dominance against South Africa in the second T20 game as well. After winning a low-scoring game in the first match, India won the second match by scoring a high total. Rohit Sharma and co. won the game by 16 runs. David Miller’s sensational century brought South Africa close to the win but they couldn’t cross the line in the end. With this victory, India sealed the series by 2-0, with one match left. This happens to be India’s first T20 home series victory against South Africa.
After winning the toss, South Africa chose to bowl first. Indians wanted to put a big total on the scoreboard and they stuck to their plans. Openers Rohit Sharma (43) and KL Rahul (57) gave a stunning start. They made a partnership of 96 runs for the first wicket. Finally, Keshav Maharaj (2/23) gave the first breakthrough for South Africa. Soon, he also got the wicket of KL Rahul. By that time, Rahul scored his half-century. Later, Virat Kohli (49* off 28 balls) and Surya Kumar Yadav (61 off 22 balls) made a blistering stand of 102 runs in 40 balls. Their sensational partnership laid the foundation for a big score. Dinesh Karthik’s (17* off 7 balls) stunning cameo, in the end, gave India a huge total of 237/3 in 20 overs.
South Africa got a double blow quite early in the chase. Arshdeep got the wickets of Temba Bavuma and Rilee Rossouw right in the second over of the innings. Later, Aiden Markram played a quick-fire innings but Axar Patel got his wicket before he became too dangerous. After that, Quinton de Kock (69) and David Miller (106) made sure not to lose another wicket. They tried their best and made a partnership of 174 runs but fell short to the victory by 16 runs. They ended the innings at 221/3.
