Brilliant performances from the top-order batters and the frontline bowlers ensured Team India a big victory against the Netherlands. While Rohit, Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav impressed with the bat, Axar, Bhuvi, Shami, Arshdeep and Ashwin collectively did the job with the ball. As a result, India won by 56 runs.
While batting first, India lost the wicket of KL Rahul pretty early. Even the powerplay score was quite low. But Rohit Sharma (53) and Virat Kohli (62) flexed their arms in the middle overs and increased the run rate. Rohit got out after making a 73-run partnership with Kohli. After his wicket, Kohli and SKY’s (51) 95-run stand helped India in scoring 179/2 in 20 overs. All three of them scored half-centuries.
Chasing a target of 180 runs against India will be never easy for the Netherlands. Moreover, all Indian bowlers bowled beautifully and troubled the Dutch batters. Thus, the Netherlands was never really in this chase. Eventually, they ended their innings at 123/9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/9), Arshdeep Singh (2/37), Axar Patel (2/18) and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/21) scalped two wickets each.
With this win, India is now at the top of Group 2’s points table. India will play its next match against South Africa on October 30. On the flip side, the Netherlands will take on Pakistan on the same day.
