Sargam Koushal, clad in a beautiful pink slit gown, lit the stage of Mrs. World as she won the title and brought it back to India after two decades of wait. Competing against Mrs Polynesia, Sargam burst into tears when she was announced as the winner on Sunday, in La’s Vegas. She has to compete with 63 other contestants who represented their countries respectively.

Mrs. Shaylyn Ford, the Mrs. World of 2021 who won it for the United States of America, crowned Sargam as the winner of the 2022 title. Sargam Koushal, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, Sargam said, “We’ve got the crown back after 21-22 years. I’m so excited. Love you, India, love your world.” after she was crowned the winner. Previously, this title was won by India in 2001 by actor-model Aditi Govitrikar.

She took to Instagram to congratulate the new winner and wrote: “Heartiest congratulations @sargam3 @mrsindiainc so happy to have been part of the journey. It was time the crown came back after 21 years.”

Before being renamed “Mrs World” in 1988, the first beauty pageant for married women was established in 1984 and was called “Mrs Woman of the World.” America has the most titles as of now and India has two in total.
