The IBC News Rating

Starring Ranveer Singh in a dual role alongside Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma, Cirkus is one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood. Helmed by Rohit Shetty, the film has hit the screens today and let us see how it is

Story :

Cirkus is the story of a set of twins, Roy (Ranveer Singh) and Joy (Varun Sharma).
Dr Roy Jamnadas finds two sets of identical twins on the doorstep of his orphanage. So, he decided to hand over those twins to two different families in two different cities. The swapped twins, who are no longer identical, are adopted by two wealthy families. However years later, a chaos comedy ensues when one set of twins plans to visit the city where the other set of twins runs a circus

What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:

The film has a hilarious ride in the second half, mainly in the climax. Also the supporting cast and Renveer’s performance is at the best.

The main issue with the film is, the movie feels outdated. Set in the 60’s, Shetty manages to throw in a lot of movie nostalgia in the film. There is also mindless comedy in the first half and the VFX in some scenes looks amateurish.

Performance of Cast & Crew

Ranveer Singh steals the show with his best acting. Varun Sharma gives a great support to Ranveer Singh character. Varun Sharma’s timing with Ranveer feels natural and the actor delivers punches even in the most subtle scenes. Deepika Cameo works out well. Pooja Hegde is okay as Roy’s wife Mala. Jacqueline adds glamor to the film. Also the supporting cast shines in the film. Be it Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever or Mukesh Tiwari, all are good in their roles.

The production values of the film are pretty good. Music and BGM by three music directors is average. Dialogues and punches are the major plus and Editing could have been better in the first half. Coming to the director, he has done an average job with the film. Empowering parallel stories have always been the Director’s strength and he shines the most in these scenes. Also his punches work in a few scenes.

First Half & Second Half:

The movie opens impressively and draws us into the narrative. But after it narration becomes flat, for most of the time in the first half. However, the interval part is interesting. Second half is good in parts. However both the halves suffer with many unnecessary scenes. The climax is genuinely funny and Ranveer’s energy shines in most scenes.

Impressive:

Climax
Performances

Unimpressive:

Old-age plot
Predictability

The IBC News take on Movie:

On the whole,

Cirkus has good punches and The climax is genuinely funny. Ranveer’s and Varun’s energy shines in most scenes. However, it fails to give you that engaging narration throughout. The director tried hard to make us laugh, but the film is far from it.

One-Line Review:

One-time watchable just for some funny moments here and there.
