Re-releasing old films and celebrating them in theatres has become a trend these days. While Pokiri collected more than Rs. 1.70 crores through its special shows, Pawan Kalyan’s Jalsa further raised the bar by earning Rs. 3.2 crores. Even the special shows of Okkadu and Thammudu got a good response from the audience.
Now, plans are being made to re-release Superstar Krishna’s cult blockbuster Simhasanam. Directed by Krishna himself, Simhasanam was released in 1986.
It was the first 70mm Telugu film and also the first Telugu movie to feature a stereophonic sound system. It was a big blockbuster at the box office.
Krishna played a dual role in this socio-fantasy drama. Jayaprada, Radha and Mandakini played the female leads in it. Bappi Lahiri’s music was a sensation at that time.
Apparently, Simhasanam is being remastered in not 4k but 8k resolution and will be equipped with Dolby Digital sound. More details about its re-release are expected to be announced soon.
