The IBC News Rating

One of the most successful movie franchises in Hollywood, Jurassic World, is now back with its new installment, Jurassic World Dominion.

Plot:

Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), along with his girlfriend Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas) and daughter Maisie, trains his Velociraptors. Surprisingly, they come across a new baby dinosaur one day. Things take a turn when that baby was taken into hostage. To help Owen, the original trio from the Jurassic franchise, Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Alan Grant (Sam Neil), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), come into the scene.

What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:

The idea of bringing back the original cast members of the Jurassic franchise itself is enough to lure the franchise fans to come to the theatres. It is enthralling to watch the original trio back in action once again. The VFX works and a few action scenes are very well made and deserve a theatrical watch.

The film’s premise is quite sluggish and the narration is sloppy. You can predict what is going to happen next and the makers fail to keep the audiences hooked to their seats with the stereotypical narration.

Performance of Cast & Crew:

In films like these, you don’t expect performances instead hope to see visual grandeur. This movie is also no exception in that case. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas are good in their respective roles. But Laura Dern, Sam Neil, and Jeff Goldblum steal the show with their epic screen presence.

The visual effects are great and better than the earlier Jurassic World flicks. The music is very well composed as well. The cinematography is brilliant and so are the production values. However, the editing seems to be one of the major issues of the film.

First Half & Second Half:

The first half is filled with character introductions and the establishment of the conflict. There is nothing much to be talked about in the first hour. Everything looks normal without any wow factor.

Things start to develop in the second half. Just like any larger-than-life film, Jurassic World Dominion also unleashes its best parts towards the climax. The last one hour is engaging and entertaining as well.

Impressive:

Including the original Jurassic Park cast
VFX works
Action choreography

Unimpressive:

No effective plot
Boring screenplay
Fails to create the impact of the original Jurassic Park films

‘The IBC News’ take on Jurassic:

We don’t expect a story from movies like these. But what made Jurassic Park great is its storyline. Jurassic World lacks that depth in the story. Thus, it remains a regular VFX-heavy action film. It doesn’t create any impact nor it will be remembered by the audience. It will not only disappoint the normal filmgoers but also the die-hard Jurassic Park fans.

One-Line Review:
