Helmed by T J Gnanavel, Jai Bhim starring Suriya received a lot of applause since its release in Amazon Prime India on 5 August 2021.
The film not only received a positive response from critics but also from normal audiences. Surya played a lawyer role in the film, who fights for a man from the Irular tribe being wrongly convicted by the police.
Unfortunately, members of the Vanniyar community filed a case on this film, marking a few scenes that are said to have portrayed their community in the wrong light.
Responding to this, Madras High Court heard the Jai Bhim case today and ordered that there should be no strict action taken on the movie team including Suriya, Jyotika and Gnanavel till the next hearing.
For the unversed,in the year 2021, Vanniyar Sangam filed a case against the makers of Jai Bhim, alleging a negative portrayal of their community in the movie. Many from the Kollywood industry came as a support to Suriya in this issue. In fact, Suriya has also received a lot of threats during this film release and also got police protection for a few days.
