India is currently celebrating Aazadi Ka Amrutotsav as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations. On this occasion, Indian Railways created a new record by running the longest, heaviest freight train ever.
The train consisted of 295 wagons and it is 3.5 km long Pentahual with 6 engines. The Railways named it as Super Vasuki.
“To mark the beginning of Amrit Kaal, SECR formed and ran SUPER VASUKI, five loaded train long haul on 15th Aug 2022 as a part of #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav Celebration. This is 3.5 km long Pentahaul with 295 wagons carrying 27000 tonnes. This is The longest and heaviest freight train ever run on #IndianRailways” tweeted South Western Railways.
On the 15th of August, the train carried 27000 tonnes and has created a record. The train ran from Khilaayi of Chattisgarh to Korba. Earlier, the Indian Railways ran trains under the names Vasuki and Thrisool but they are only 2.8 km long.
