YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s move to rename the NTR Health University as YSR Health University drew a lot of criticism. However, the YSRCP government did not take a back step but went ahead with their proposal and passed the bill successfully in the assembly.
The State Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council witnessed ruckus on Wednesday as the TDP legislators stalled the proceedings against the government’s proposal. As a result, the speaker suspended all TDP members. On the orders of Speaker Tammineni Seetharam, marshals physically lifted them out of the House.
Andhra Pradesh State Assembly on Wednesday passed the ‘Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2022’ and changed the name to Dr YSR University of Health Sciences. Vidadala Rajini, the health minister of the state introduced the bill in the house.
“YSR increased medical colleges to 11 from 8. YS Jagan has now increased them to 28,” said Vidudala Rajani, stressing the importance of having YSR’s name to the Health University.
TDP chief Nara Chandra Babu Naidu and his party leaders are staging several protests against this movie.
On the other hand, Janasena party also did not welcome this move from the government. The party questioned, “What is it the government is achieving with the move? It is only creating controversies.”
We have to see if the protests will come to an end anytime soon.
