The IBC News Rating
After scoring a hit with the 2019 release Good Newwz, director Raj Mehta is now back with another directorial venture, Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The film features Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Neetu Kapoor in the lead roles.
Plot:
Kukoo (Varun Dhawan) and Naina (Kiara Advani) are friends since childhood. They fall for each other and eventually get married. Things turn cold after their marriage and after five years of married life, they decide to get divorced. They come home to inform the same of the parents. But before they do it, they realize that Kukoo’s father Bheem (Anil Kapoor) is also planning to leave his wife Geeta (Neetu Kapoor), as he found a new love interest named Meera (Tisca Chopra). How things unfold after this point forms the major crux of the movie.
What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:
The story of Jug Jugg Jeeyo is very heavy but the makers dealt with it in a light-hearted manner in most of the parts. There is a heavy emotional scene, which is followed by a little comedy sequence. This strategy keeps audiences hooked throughout the proceedings.
The are many scenes that can be avoided as well, especially the pre-climax scene. It is quite boring as well. Also, the movie can appeal only to the urban audiences and not the rural folks.

Performance of Cast & Crew
All the lead actors gave their best for the movie. Varun is excellent in both emotional and comical sequences. This is a tailor-made role for him. Anil Kapoor is a show-stealer and his comic timing is phenomenal. Neetu Kapoor shined in the emotional scenes. Kiara got a meaty role as well and she justified it completely.
First Half & Second Half:
The first half of the film is very entertaining with comedy elements and family sequences. There is a freshness in the story and it is quite relatable to most family audiences.
Things take an emotional turn in the second half. Characters turn venerable and scenes become heavy. It is not entertaining as the first half but is engaging though. But the latter half may not appeal to the viewers who were expecting humor. If the makers managed to include some humor elements in the second half as well, the movie would have turned out to be amazing.
Impressive:
Lead actors’ performances
Emotional scenes
Comedy scenes
Unimpressive:
Predictable storyline
Things become too heavy in the second half
Rural audiences will not get connected
‘The IBC News’ take on RRR:
Jug Jugg Jeeyo is a typical Bollywood family drama filled with big actors, numerous junior artists, colorful sets, and celebratory dance numbers. It has all the necessary ingredients to appeal to the family audiences. So, it can be watched with family members for sure.
One-Line Review:
Predictable but enjoyable family drama
